CITY OF CORYDON
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
Wednesday, June 17, 2020

The regular meeting of the Corydon City Council was called to order by Mayor Dennis Moorman. Present were council members Holmes, Rupe, Bennett and Christian. Rodgers was absent. Others in attendance were City Clerk Eva Moore, Rhonda Bennett from the Times-Republican.
Randy Sharp was present and addressed the council during open forum regarding vase damage to a headstone in the cemetery as well as junk issues with a tenant.
Christian made the motion to approve Resolution 2020-24, a resolution to change council meeting dates and times starting in new fiscal year July 2020. Holmes seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
Holmes made the motion to approve Resolution 2020-25, a resolution authorizing the move of Emergency Funds to the General Fund as required by law. Bennett seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
Bennett made the motion to approve Resolution 2020-26, a resolution to update wage increases for City Employees effective 7-1-20. Rupe seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
Holmes made the motion to approve renewal of cigarette permits for Casey’s, Hy-Vee and Dollar General and approve new cigarette permit for Wayco Fast Stop LLC. Rupe seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
Bennett made the motion to approve the monthly financial report from LeCompte Memorial Library. Rupe seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
Holmes made the motion to approve the cost of $750.00 for an Oiler for street repairs. Rupe seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
Council discussed residents not adhering to junk ordinances. Holmes made the motion to continue to adhere to the junk ordinance. Rupe seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
Bennett made the motion to continue to keep City Hall and Walden Building closed until the next council meeting on July 8. Rupe seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
Council discussed the need of speed limit signs and children at play signs for South Street, South West Street and Anthony Street. Due to recent street repairs, residents are driving too fast in these areas. Speed monitor devices will be placed around town to discourage speeding.
Mayor Moorman asked for other good cause business. Holmes stated he had completed the tiling project at the Langloss residence. Mayor advised that a resident would like some trees taken down in the resident’s yard, but that was not city’s responsibility. Clerk will reach out to see if there are any grants available for residents to remove dead trees. Mayor stated that the street project asphalt had achieved 104%, a small overrun of asphalt costs.
Christian made the motion to approve the minutes of previous meeting, clerk’s report and treasurer’s report. Rupe seconded. Ayes: Rupe, Holmes, Bennett and Christian. Nays: none.
City Clerk advised council that color copies of the MSA condition survey had been provided for all council members. City Hall is in the process of updating customer information such as phone numbers to have on file in case customers need to be called when city maintenance is being done, as not all residents have phone number on file. Auto Pay option needs updated technology to make it truly auto pay. Clerk is reviewing trail cam options for the Elk. Complaints about the cemetery are still being received weekly on various issues.
The next regular meeting will be Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.
