12.19.18 – Council Meeting Minutes

DECEMBER 19, 2018

The regular meeting of the Corydon City Council was called to order by Mayor Dennis Moorman. Present were Council Members Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Others in attendance were Fire Chief Bryan Wallace, Josh Cobb, newspaper representatives, City clerk and the deputy clerk.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve Resolution 2018-62, a resolution approving wage increases for the fiscal year 19/20. Holmes seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Nays-none.

Holmes made the motion to approve Resolution 2018-63, a resolution stating the Mayor’s appointments for 2019. Rupe seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Nays-none.

Bennett made the motion to approve the updates to the Red Flag Identity Theft Prevention Program. Rupe seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Nays-none.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve the quote for mowing the Corydon Cemetery from Scott Bunnell. Rupe seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Nays-none.

Holmes made the motion to approve the quote for fuel for 2019 from Agriland FS. Rupe seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Nays-none.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve the monthly financial report from LeCompte Memorial Library as presented. Bennett seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Nays-none.

Holmes reported that Dave Rhodes has looked into the cost of classes and tests for sewer certification.

Bennett asked if City Hall had received any updates from Hall Engineering. None have been received.

Because of all the rumors floating around town in regards to the position of Operator/Operator by Affidavit for water and sewer, Mayor Moorman read a statement of facts including the hiring history for the position, fees paid, and certifications required of the City by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Copies of the fact sheet were given to the newspaper representatives for publication.

Holmes advised the Council that Matt Comer has agreed to be the Guest Council Member for the month of January.

Rupe made the motion to approve the minutes of the previous meetings and the clerk’s report as presented. Jaeckel seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Nays-none.

Jaeckel made the motion to have Dennis Moorman as a signature on the Corydon State Bank checking account. Bennett seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Nays-none.

The clerk advised the Council that Service Line Warranty Insurance has reported 114 External Water Line policies, 46 External Sewer Line policies and 1 Interior Plumbing & Drainage policy.

Ordinance 337, an Ordinance increasing the minimum charge for sewer will be put on the agenda for the January 7th meeting.

Fire Chief Bryan Wallace reported that the new truck has arrived and has already been dispatched to a structure fire.

Fire Department election results found all positions held by the same people.

Wallace submitted a purchase order for seven (7) thermal imaging cameras.

The next regular meeting will be Monday, January 7th at 7:00 p.m.
