The special session of the Corydon City council was called to order by Mayor Moorman. Present were Council Members Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Others in attendance were Dawn Christian, Rhonda Bennett, employees Trower and Davis, the City clerk and newspaper representative.

Mayor Moorman advised the Council and the forum that on Tuesday, March 26th, Rodney Parham withdrew his proposed contract as water and wastewater operator for the City of Corydon. Ads have been placed in the Times Republican and on the Iowa Rural Water Association website in search of a certified operator. Both Bennett and Holmes stated that they have been given a couple of names of operators that might be interested in the temporary position, and will be in contact with them.

The regular meeting of the Corydon City Council was called to order by Mayor Dennis Moorman. Present were Council Members Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Council Members Bennett and Jaeckel were absent. Others in attendance were Guest Council member Andrew Goben, Mark and Dawn Christian, Lee Peck, Rhonda Bennett; employees Brandon Trower and Laredo Davis, the deputy clerk, City clerk, and newspaper representatives.

Mayor Moorman started the meeting by expressing condolences to the John Rider family. Mr. Rider was very active in community affairs, and served as both a Council Member and as the Mayor for the City of Corydon.

The public hearing regarding the preliminary budget for 2019/2020 was called to order by Mayor Dennis Moorman. Present were Council Members Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes, Rupe and Rodgers. Others in attendance were Dan Sales of Cook Insurance, Guest Council Member Andrew Goben, the City clerk and newspaper representatives. The clerk reported that the preliminary budget for 2019/2020 was published and posted as required by law. Publication was in the Times Republican and postings were made at the post office, LeCompte Memorial Library and City Hall. As of the time of this meeting, City Hall had received neither oral nor written comments concerning the budget.

February 27, 2019

Mayor Dennis Moorman called the work session to order at 6:00 p.m. Present were Council Members Jaeckel, Bennett, Holmes and Rupe and the City clerk. Council Member Rodgers was absent.

The importance of committee meetings was discussed. The two member Council committees were asked to work together on ideas or topics, and gather information and facts to be presented to the others at Council meetings.

The Council looked over the ad and bid sheet for the library building. The ad will be placed in next week’s edition of the Times Republican.

The Council discussed options for a licensed water/sewer operator.

Ideas were discussed for animal control and a code enforcement officer.

Additional areas were discussed for the Street Project.

Franklin Street also known as the building that houses the LeCompte Memorial Library. It is that time of the year again! Time to register your pets! According to City Ordinance 6.09.020 all dogs and cats within the city age 6 months and older must be licensed with the City. Pets age 6 months to 1 year cost $2.50, and pets over 1 year cost $5.00 to license. Licensing your pet is easy and inexpensive. All you need to do is bring proof that your pet is current on its rabies vaccination to City Hall. Once that is done you will be issued a numbered tag (unique to your pet) to put on your pet’s collar.

Randy Sharp attended the meeting to advise the Council of a problem with a loose dog. He claims the dog came into his yard and grabbed a cat out of his grandson’s arms and killed it. Sharp asked what he could do if the dog showed up again. At this time, the City does not have an animal control person, and the Sheriff’s office was not contracted to take care of animals. Garbage Announcement

Many residents have been complaining that their garbage is not being picked up.

This is a reminder that everyone’s garbage cans must be out by 6:00 a.m.

The tote should face the street, otherwise it will not be able to be grabbed by the garbage truck’s arm.

Do NOT use the recycling tote (the one with a grey lid) as a garbage tote. Recycling containers will not be picked up on Thursdays.

The garbage tote lid must be able to close. If you have an abundance of trash each week, you can contact City Hall for an extra garbage tote.

If you have anything outside the tote to be picked up, you must call Midwest Sanitation (888-428-2610).
