8.22.18 – Council Meeting Minutes

AUGUST 22, 2018

The regular meeting of the Corydon City Council was called to order by Mayor Rodney Parham. Present were Council Members Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and Rupe. Others in attendance were Josh Cobb, Fire Chief Bryan Wallace, Police Chief Allen Fry, Rhonda Bennett from the Times Republican and the City clerk.

Wallace and Cobb provided information on the equipment the Fire Department would like to purchase and answered Council’s questions. A breakdown of costs for the equipment was presented for consideration. Mayor Parham stated that the Fire Department would need to use $25,000 of their funds towards the purchase.

After discussion, Jaeckel made the motion to approve Resolution 2018-36, a Resolution setting a public hearing for September 6 at 7:00 p.m. to advise the public of the City’s intent to apply for financing to purchase fire department equipment. Rupe seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and Rupe. Nays-none.

Moorman met with Norris Asphalt today, and looked over the streets to be addressed. Norris will have a quote for the City by the September 6th meeting.

Mayor Parham reported that the south wall of the library building should be completed around Wednesday of next week.

Moorman made the motion to approve minutes of the previous meeting and the clerk’s report. Holmes seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and Rupe. Nays-none.

The clerk advised the Council that the estimates for LED lighting to be installed in City Hall and the City Shop have both come in below the budgeted numbers.

Flyers were passed out to Council members regarding the Regional Summit to be held in Centerville.

A work session was scheduled for Wednesday, August 29th at 6:00 p.m.

The next regular meeting will be Thursday, September 6th at 7:00 p.m.
