JULY 6, 2017

The regular meeting of the Corydon City Council was called to order by Mayor Rodney Parham. Present were Council Members Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Others in attendance were Gary Henderson, Kristina Pollock, Fire Chief Bryan Wallace, Police officer Tyler Jeffrey and the City clerk.

Nancy Buss from Hall Engineering was scheduled to appear, but cancelled.

Jaeckel made the motion to table agenda item #3 pending discussion with Hall Engineering. Agenda item #3 – Consider cost of $3,470 for Hall Engineering Company to prepare the Addendum per request of the USDA State Engineer. Holmes seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Moorman made the motion to table agenda item #4 pending discussion with Hall Engineering. Agenda item #3 – Consider the submittal of the Waste Water Facility Plan to the IDNR. Jaeckel seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

VanderSluis made the motion to approve ORDIANCE 328, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9 OF THE CORYDON MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR THE REGULATION OF CERTAIN ACTIONS AND CONDUCT IN THE CORYDON CEMETERY. Moorman seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve ORDINANCE 329, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5.20 OF THE CORYDON MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE CORYDON CEMETERY. VanderSluis seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Holmes made the motion to approve Resolution 2017-29, a Resolution approving the conveyance of the streets in Southern Comfort Estates to the City of Corydon. Bennett seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve Resolution 2017-30, a Resolution to remove the street lights around the square area from the regular flat billing rate. Bennett seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Moorman made the motion to approve the 2016/2017 Investment Report as presented. VanderSluis seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve the renewal of the liquor license for the beer tent for the Old Settlers celebration. Moorman seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve waiving the parking restrictions and for blocking off the alley for the Alley Cat Sports Bar for the Old Settlers celebration. Bennett seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve the minutes and treasurers report. VanderSluis seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Bennett made the motion to allow the unpaid and prepaid bills. Jaeckel seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

The clerk reported that the deed for the Reaves/Dudley property has been recorded. Clean up can begin on the lot.

The Council gave their approval for Elliott Equipment to take the Tymco sweeper to their facility to look over.

Officer Jeffrey was asked to secure the old apartment behind the Wayne Theatre.

Fire Chief Bryan Wallace asked for a purchase order to purchase a vent chainsaw with Wayne Community Foundation grant funds that were received this spring. Wallace advised the Council that the Wayne County Sheriff’s office was changing radio frequencies and the Fire Department would be moving to their old frequency. Wallace would like to purchase new radios rather than have the old undependable pagers reprogrammed. VanderSluis made the motion to allow Wallace to purchase the radios needed. Moorman seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.
