DECEMBER 4, 2017

The regular meeting of the Corydon City Council was called to order by Mayor Rodney Parham. Present were Council Members Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Others in attendance were Councilman elect Stan Rupe, Police Officer Tyler Jeffrey, Rhonda Bennett and the City clerk.

VanderSluis approved the first reading of ORDINANCE 330, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13.08.010 OF THE CORYDON MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE THE WATER RATES AND CHARGES. Jaeckel seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

Holmes approved the first reading of ORDINANCE 331, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13.16.040 OF THE CORYDON MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE THE CHARGE FOR USE OF THE MUNICIPAL SEWER SYSTEM. Bennett seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

The Council considered Resolution 2017-50, a resolution approving the application for tax abatement UNDER THE CITY OF CORYDON URBAN REVITILIZATION PLAN submitted by John Rider for the property at 605 N. Washington Street. Having met all the requirements, Jaeckel made the motion to approve the application. Bennett seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

The City received notice of approval from Chariton Valley Regional Housing Trust Fund regarding the grant application for cleaning up the property at 205 E. Moore. The contractor with the low bid has been notified.

VanderSluis expressed his frustration regarding the nuisance properties in town and the condition of the streets.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve the minutes and treasurer’s report as presented. Moorman seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman and Holmes. Bennett and VanderSluis abstained.

Jaeckel made the motion to approve the prepaid and unpaid bills. VanderSluis seconded. Ayes-Jaeckel, Moorman, Holmes, Bennett and VanderSluis. Nays-none.

The clerk reported that the Corydon Golf Club paid the 2017 mowing bill in full, and paid $3,000 towards the 2013 bill.

Jeffrey reported that East Penn was supplying the batteries for the new tanker, so far there have been 103 fire calls this year, and Chief Wallace is working at setting up a Fire Fighter One class.

The Mayor reminded the Council of the work session Wednesday, December 6th at 6:00 p.m.

The next regular meeting will be Wednesday, December 20th at 7:00 p.m.
